Breeding dogs for soundness and conformation takes time and skill. A reputable, responsible breeder MUST have an "eye" for dogs, EVEN THOSE THAT HAVE A PEDIGREE, that are worth breeding. However, please know that even in the best breeding lines there will be pups that exhibit traits that are deserving of SHOW, some offspring will not be show material but be perfect for BREEDING to further great genes resulting in great puppies, and some are destined to be awesome companion dogs.

If we label a puppy as a "SHOW PROSPECT," we believe that puppy exhibits characteristics to compete in the show ring. However, as puppies mature, they can develop traits that cannot be predicted. We will always disclose to you any and all noted traits of a particular pup.

For the time being, we are strictly breeders OF EXCEPTIONAL DOGS and we do not show. Both of us are CAREER legal professionals, own our home, and, unfortunately, we do not have the time, money and freedom that is necessary to travel the AKC show circuit (we are currently exploring the possibility of a handler taking one or more of our dogs to show). However, our dogs have nice pedigrees, and we strive to breed only dogs that exhibit exceptional conformation and dispositions.

We stand behind the dogs that we sell, and we offer a replacement guarantee, in writing, for any puppy found by your vet to have a congenital, life-threatening defect for the first ninety (90) days of ownership. Please email us if you have any questions.

We believe that TRUST is essential when raising puppies. We teach our puppies and potty train them in a manner that allows them to easily transition to their new homes with their new owners. Our puppies are potty trained on NEWSPAPER ONLY and not expensive, hard-to-maintain potty pads or litter boxes.

We welcome any and all questions about our dogs, our kennel or the Chihuahua breed in general. We also offer phone and on-line support to new puppy owners in order that you have the best possible experience.

SHIPPING: If we ship your puppy, we will be required to make a vet appointment in order to obtain the Health Certificate required by ALL AIRLINES. We try to send puppies on non-stop flights; however, this is not always possible. We prefer to ship puppies on Fridays, Saturdays or Mondays, but we will accommodate your schedule the best we can. We provide new owners with instructions and recommendations for transitioning your new puppy. Your new puppy will be VERY HAPPY to see you when you arrive at the airport!!!

Shipping fee is $300.** This fee covers the cost of a NEW airline-approved crate, vet certificate and airfare. Please consider the fact that we have to leave home at 4:30 a.m. for check-in at the airport by 5:00 a.m. (Most cross-country flights leave the west coast very early in the day.) We only fly puppies on ALASKA, DELTA OR CONTINENTAL PET SAFE. On these airlines, pets fly in a pressurized, climate-controlled cargo cabin much like passengers. We WILL NOT put a puppy on a stand-by, as-space-permits cargo flight, which is an alternative some breeders use to save money on airfare. We CARE AND WORRY ABOUT OUR PUPPIES AND THEIR COMFORTABLE FLIGHT until they arrive at their destination --- YOU. We provide new owners with an on-line link to flight status* of puppies that we fly, and we personally check their status all day until they arrive and we maintain phone contact with you to confirm their safe arrival.

* The AKC standard for the Chihuahua imposes a weight limit of 6 pounds. It is the opinion of C&M Teeny Chis that this limitation on Chihuahuas is unfair. The AKC standard for other breeds of dogs is based on the height of the dog at the withers, not by the WEIGHT of the dog. All dogs are individual and unique; a tiny dog can weigh more than a larger dog, depending on its bone density and architecture, as well as its muscularity. A heavily muscled dog will weigh more than a slim dog, but both dogs can be the same size. We will only breed those dogs that have excellent conformation and dispositions and at the same time, are SMALL, COMPACT DOGS with the traditional Chihuahua traits of apple head, short legs, deep chest, ears correctly placed at 10:00 and 2:00 and as straight as possible in the legs and back. We do not like to see: So-called "deer-headed" dogs and "deer type" dogs with long muzzles and long spindly legs, dogs so tiny that they are prone to hydrocephalus, luxating patellas or other results of poor breeding. You will see a LOT OF CHIHUAHUA PUPPIES ON THE INTERNET that do not resemble the traditional form of the Chihuahua, and usually at $300-$400 per puppy. If we do not have a puppy available that meets your requirements, we will gladly refer you to those breeders we personally know to have quality dogs raised in good living conditions. It our hope that folks wanting to add a quality dog to their family will seek out QUALITY BREEDERS and cull the puppy mills and indiscriminate breeders.
